2006 Round 2 - Anglesey

Grieve again...

Chris Grieve extended his lead in the championship by taking the overall win in the second round of the championship at Anglesey on Saturday. The Hexham Youngster was pegged back to just the single race win this time but his consistency netted him top points. Dave Newsham, Grieve and John 'Jon' Higgins won the heats with the final producing a fourth different winner in the from of Steve Thompson.

Tommo was always going to be difficult to beat in the final as two dreadful heats had left him on pole position for the big race. He led away and built a good advantage but this was all for nothing when the race was stopped when Higgins' car performed a multiple roll at Douglas. JJ was thankfully OK although the same could not be said for the car. On the restart Tommo set off once again but this time with Lawrence Davey for company. The youngster, who was one of the pace setters all weekend, managed to pass and pull away from Tommo but then started to slow in the later stages when a plug lead failed. Thompson did not need to asked twice to take the lead and did a great job to control the remainder of the race at the front to win from Newsham and Jamie Clarke.
