Newsham back on form...

Dave Newsham was back on form at Brands Hatch taking two heat wins and second in the final. The first race was stopped after barely half a lap when Dave Ward was forced into a spin after Graham Hill Bend. Several cars became casualties, notably second in the table Jamie Clarke, David Butler and Colin Chadwick. The restarted race could have gone to any of the eventual top four although Simon Belcher did not realise that he was on the last lap as he bump-drafted Newsham over the line.

Newsham's second win was relatively easier in the reversed grid (he'd won the first from 15th on the grid). This time it was championship leader Chris Grieve and John Higgins who took the battle two him with Jamie Clarke a superb fourth after a herculean effort from the Smart Motorsport team to get the car back ready for action.

Iain Holden led the final before Paul Thompson's lunge at Graham Hill Bend punted him off, Jamie Clarke emerging as the early leader. Lawrence Davey was charging through the field and took over at the front just as Dave Newsham joined the front runners. Dave nabbed second on the line from Jamie with Chris Grieve in fourth.
