Congrats Peter!

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Peter from all the 32 team - Jacqui, James, Darren, Mum & Dad Morton, Mum & Dad Hall, Brother David, and all our friends.

The team want to say thank you to Firth Steels, SMD, Norclad and QM racing because without their backing none of this would have been possible.

All at 600 Racing congratulate Peter on his title and all drivers on some terrific racing this season. Next stop Sears Point! Peter will be back to defend his title next season. He's opted not to use #1 and will remain as 32 but keep your eyes on the car to see what he does with it instead of sporting numero uno!!

Pembrey Feedback...

Thanks to Louise Olliver, one of the marshals at Pembrey for her kind comments... "I read your Legends news with great interest. I marshal for the BARC in the pit lane and always try to get to as many Legends meetings as possible during the year, as I love them to bits. You may have seen me as I'm the marshal who stands somewhere along the pitwall and always applauds all the drivers, giving them thumbs up signs at the end of every heat and race with a huge grin on my face. Other marshals think I'm mad as I get so excited when they take to the track, but I think that they're great. I do have my favourites but I always try to be impartial when cheering them on. I was a little disappointed therefore to read that Pembrey on 13/14 August was noted as an unfriendly circuit (granted that a) I'm not Welsh and b) Pembrey is not a circuit I marshal a lot at). I do hope that we pit lane marshals didn't upset you. (I'll just have to cheer you guys on even more at The Rock next month.) Do the Legends have a Supporters Club? If so I would love to join, do you know where I could get some info? "

Pembrey results...

More fantastic racing as the Legends thrilled the fans at Pembrey in south Wales this weekend. Ali Topley (below, right) was the outright winner on Saturday whilst Chris Grieve (top, right) took Sunday's honours. Updated championship table here.

Although the racing was top notch several teams had reservations about the welcome received from some quarters. One driver commented: "BARC have three tracks. Thruxton - head office, Mallory Park - the friendly circuit and Pembrey - the unfriendly circuit."

Plaudits after Brands Hatch...

After a terrific weekend's action both the press and paying public have been very generous in their praise. Motorsport News' Deputy Racing Editor Glenn Freeman penned this editorial in Wednesday's edition. Thanks Glenn.

We would also like to thank race fan Keith Edwards for his feedback... "I would like to thank the drivers that actually noticed myself and my partner on Sat 30/7/05 and myself and partner and stepson and girlfriend on Sun 31/7/05 at Brands Hatch. We were just up from the bridge. We applauded every car because they put on 8 fantastic races The drivers (well most of them) gave us a wave or thumbs up. Thanks all of you."

Morton and Higgins win at Brands

Peter Morton took outright victory at Brands Hatch on Saturday whilst John Higgins won all three races on Sunday rewriting the record books to take his 71st career win.

Sunday's final was red flagged with Steve Thompson in the gravel at Paddock Hill. Steve Mills had a bad landing after being launched into the air at Druids in the race. He was taken to hospital after the meeting and has two fractured vertebrae.

We wish Steve a speedy recovery - he told us this morning that he will almost certainly be at Pembrey in a fortnight's time as a spectator and back on track for the final round at Rockingham in September.

As ever our thanks go to the marshals and medics who helped Steve at the end of the race.

Morton, Grieve & Thompson star at Anglesey
Peter Morton extended his championship lead by 30 points in the two day meeting at Anglesey. Peter shared the spoils with Chris Grieve on Saturday - the first tie for an overall meeting win for some time. Sunday's meeting saw a return to form for Steve Thompson (right) who took the overall win from John 'Jon' Higgins.

05 Jul 05 First round on TV
The first round of this year's National Championship will be broadcast on Sky Sports 2 on Wednesday 6th July at 10pm. It's understood that there will also be further showings throughout the week.

26 Jun 05 Grieve's home win
Derek Pierce (2), Chris Grieve and John Higgins were the race winners at Croft over the weekend but it was Grieve who topped the weekend's points haul and made a small dent in Peter Morton's championship lead.

06 Jun 05

Higgins is double winner at Knockhill
John 'Jon' Higgins bagged overall wins on both Saturday and Sunday in our double header at Knockhill. Peter Morton retains his championship lead with Chris Grieve back into second place ahead of Derek Pierce and Lawrence Davey. Saturday's entertainer of the day was Marc Lord with Lawrence Davey taking that honour on Sunday.

Legends Cars invited to French Grand Prix

Legends Cars have been invited to take part in the forthcoming French Grand Prix race programme at Magny-Cours on 1st, 2nd and 3rd July. 40 cars from across Europe will race at the event with practice on Friday morning followed by the first race during the afternoon. The cars will then contest a second race on Saturday.

Legends Cars growth in Europe is almost as fast as the cars themselves. A French series was started last year and is being run by former Super Touring Champion Jean-Phillippe Dayraut. This season has also seen the formula starting in Belgium and Spain, with further competitions due to start shortly in both Germany and Portugal.

“It’s fantastic to receive this invitation,” says 600 Racing Europe’s Phil Cooper. “It just goes to show how much respect the organisers of the Grand Prix have for Legends Cars as both a serious competition and as an entertaining concept. It’s still early days for the formula in France too. We’ve come a long way in a very short space of time.”

“This year’s UK entry alone underlines just how serious Legends Cars racing is being taken. Let’s face it, it’s economically tough out there and yet we’ve got full grids and the most talent rich entry we’ve ever had with champions from all fields of motor racing. It must be one of the competitive formulae in Europe and certainly the most cost effective given the level of competition.”

Legends Cars are the only UK National motor racing formula to contest a genuine World Championship each year, the event is contested in the USA at Infineon Raceway, (nee Sears Point) each November. The UK Championship is contested over 14 rounds at leading circuits in England, Scotland and Wales
