Gary has been racing Legends since 1998 and is always a front-runner.
He runs the Racetec team, dividing his time between preparation
of Legends, oval and autograss cars. No longer a regular competitor
in Legends, he races when the opportunity arises and usually succeeds
in embarrassing most of the regulars.
He started racing on the short ovals in 1985 and was an autograss
national champion in 1994 and 1995. In 1999 he finished 4th in the
Old Spice Legends Cars Championship, including an overall meeting
win at Pembrey. In 2000 excellent results (including a win on the
Mallory oval and several wins at the Knockhill double-header) were
mixed with a number of non-finishes and he could not improve his
Championship position. He did not compete in 2001, concentrating
on running the Racetec stable of Legends, including Pete Smith,
Oli Poyser and Gary Coake.
